The Legend of STUD & TRACK

Active from 1998-2002,
Stud & Track Recording Studio was an analogue sound lab housing stage props, stock film and music, practice space, musical instruments (electronic/acoustic), film projectors, editing suite, living quarters and of course, recording gear. Two, four and eight track machines were used to capture an experiment conducted by film and music devotees with very few professional musicians amongst them.
The protagonist Andy Brittain, together with a small core of artists, transformed junk into art. The types of artists frequenting or residing at S&T were involved in writing (journalism and scripts), theartre, film, visual arts, cartooning, electronics and computers and memorabilia collecting. Occasionally a musician or singer would visit to find themselves sitting in Studio A, catalogued by A.B. and touted as the "next big thing" in LO-FI terms. Everyone's a star.

Improv experiments
done at the studios lead to an in-house sound that managed a few multimedia gigs. One song "Wheels Of Steel" was selected by Fat Pizza as backing music for an S&M scene.
Names include Andy Brittain, Brett Garton, Mr. X, John Ray, Joe Stewart, Tone E, Adam, Chris Dent, Jacky Dent, Ultra T. Regatz, Pterodactyl Man, RichMachine, Dave Smith, Fill Frea, Rodzilla Fernandez, Busker MC Ilias and Jay Katz .
