Born in Sydney, Australia, MACHINISO are a band of musical outlaws from the barren, cultural outpost known as the Land Downunder. Over the last 16 months a variety of projects have been attempted, leading to the latest studio offering. Sensing more overseas interest than local, the group are about to unleash their brand of world-charming sounds upon the international public. Having performed a number of residencies at the KIT & KABOODLE Supper Club in Kings Cross and HOME (Tokio Bar) Darling Harbour, the band has recorded with music producer Rick Will from the USA - Grinspoon, Josk Pyke, T. Bone Burnett and 250 more acts. His Guidance is greatly appreciated.

Rich Machine - Drums, percussion, films.
Rich has been involved with Sydney musicians, performance poets and experimental artists for a number of years. Always interested in the fusion of art-forms, he is constantly looking for new ways to engage film with performance.

Celestial Dave Smith - Vibes, marimba, percussion.
Dave plays both tuned and un-tuned percussion aswell as teaches part time. Classical, jazz, concert band and improvisation are his passions and helped create 'Carrier' with collaborator Mark Island, in the late 90's and 'Sonic Device' with RichMachine, 2001.

Jimmy Vargas - Crooner, films.
Mr Jimmy Vargas... a more professional a front man can't be found! He's a specialist cronier, spruiker, lounge and bebop singer and film maker. Also a repected authority on burlesque from the 1940s onward and writes for magazines here and internationally.

Scott Leishman - Guitar synth, bass.
Scott is both a respected jazz/funk/blues guitarist with an interest in experimental and new music from around the world. He has branched out with guitar synth, making his inclusion in MACHINE a bonus. His bass playing and improv abilities come in very handy.

Kent Parkstreet - Flute, sax.
Melbourne born, Kent has played flute at home and abroad for a number of recordings and live gigs. Competent in many musical styles, he too is a fantastic improv and jazz player, always keen to bring new projects to light.

GUESTS TO DATE:
Alex Hewetson - Bass player, Directions in Groove, SWOOP, composer, live improvised bass for MACHINISO. Alex is very experienced, great at improv and one of the funkiest fill in members we've had. He's more than a competent bass player and flexible in live situations - Alex gives jazz-swing a cool groove.

Popular Girl - beat poet, excursionist.
As a traveller of the world, Popular Girl is as mysterious as her schedule. Criss-crossing the globe has allowed her to use her home town as a pin-board for her many postcards that feature real people and their tales. She often pops up on stage when you least expect it. Often, you'll feel a craving for more once she departs in a puff of smoke.

Ultra T. Regatz - Tenor sax, performance poetry.
Also Melbourne born, Ultra T. comes from experimental, world and jazz roots with a preference for Sun Ra and Fella Kuti. He has been recorded and appeared at many spoken word gigs and festivals.

StycxOnycx - Soundscape backings.
David Croft has helped the Soulprojector collective get a start by offering soundscape music, cinematic in nature, to the band for live performances. With a writing background, he both composes music and writes articles for magazines.
